Love of My Life

My Only Love
Everyday with you is a blessing from God. He knew that I needed you, and He knew that you needed me. When I was born you were just 2 years old. At that time God was already preparing you for me! God knew that one day we would meet and in His perfect timing be joined as one in His name. Our love started as a friendship that grew stronger and stronger. Today I am proud to say that I was privileged to marry my best friend!
The Lord has brought us through hard and trying times, but He has also brought us through wonderful experiences!
First, God showed us both how much we needed Him in our lives, and a desire to serve Him with our lives.
Second, God gave me you!
Third, God gave us overflowing love for each other!
Fourth, God gave us a joy to be and serve together.
Fifth, God moved us away from home.
Sixth, God gave us a handsome baby boy; Joshua Alan.
Seventh, God is still working on us!
I am very proud to be you wife, I love you Nathan Alan! I could not have asked for a better husband.
I love you my handsome hubby!!
Love your Only Love,
Rachel

"a more excellent way"

Our church theme for 2010 is "a more excellent way" from Corinthians 12:31.
Nathan and I have been privileged to be able to attend, and help Anchor Baptist Church for the past 10 months. The Lord has shown us His power many times in these last 10 months. He has also shown us many things in our own lives that have needed to be adjusted.
Nathan and I have both accepted Christ as our Saviour, and therefore, we must live in "a more excellent way" - love! What ever we do (everything) we must do it in love. Without love, our work is in vain.
"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity , I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have not the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity."
~I Corinthians 13
Our Lord Jesus Christ gave His life willingly to die on a cross for all of us. So what then can we give to Him; give him your whole life!

Joshua adn his Christmas Doggy...

Thank you for the Christmas doggy Grandpa and Grandma! I really like it :D

Joshua loves to eat everything he can get his hands on. It is just his way of saying thank you, I love it!!

Kind of like whenever he sees me after he has been in the nursery or with someone else, or when I pick him up he grabs my hair or neck and gives me a HUGE KISS!! I love it when he gives kisses, even though they are VERY slobbery ;D

Whistler December 26,2009

We went to Whistler B.C. on Boxing Day. It was soooo beautiful. There was 2 feet of snow all over the place...and I went and forgot my camera (I was so mad, but Nathan reassured me that we will be going again!). We all said that we were not going to want to go home (away from the snow). It was Casie's first time to see snow, well other than pictures and little snow piles here and there in Buffalo. It was absolutely gorgeous! Nathan and I got Jun to take some pictures for us on his super awesome camera (that I want) :D
I will put some pictures up when I get them from Jun and Casie.

Christmas Clips

Thank you for all the presents Grandpa and Grandma!

I love you, Merry christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Merry Christmas to everyone! This Christmas has been very different but full of many fun "first time" things. This is my (Rachel) first away from home, but our first Christmas with our precious baby boy. It is our first Christmas without snow and our first Christmas in the beautiful mountains!

The Lord has given us many blessings throughout this year!

Here are some pictures of our Christmas.

Joshua's 1st Christmas outfit!!

Joshua was full of smiles today! :)

Our baby boy's 1st Christmas!

Grandpa helping Joshua open up some of his presents. I had Joshua on the floor beside me but he was getting covered in toys and wrapping paper from everyone around him...he was getting a bit overwhelmed so Grandpa helped him out.

Joshua's bath toy from Grandpa and Grandma Marks. He really likes it!!!!

Joshua's 1st suit from Grandpa and Grandma Ravert. It is black with blue pin strips. He is going to be soooooooo adorable :D

Joshua opening his Frosty the Snow Man christmas decoration from Grandpa and Grandma Marks.

Joshua's IKEA set of dishes. He really liked them becuase they are all so bright!

Joshua got so excited everytime we gave him a present. He would start bouncing and trying to grab the present!

Joshua got a hammer from Uncle Christopher, Aunt Melissa, Isaac, Caleb and Anna that makes noise and lights up when you move it around.

Joshua and Daddy cuddling on Christmas morning.

Joshua opening his 1st stocking

Joshua was all excited this morning when we all first got up. He was so smilie and giggly, for the first little while anyways. All the excitement wore him out fast though!

Smiling with a soother :D

Sooooo many presents! It was so fun waking up Christmas morning and seeing all of the presents under the tree!

Johua's Christmas package!!!

This is our 1st Christmas away so Dad and Mum Marks sent out a Christmas package for Joshua!! When we got the box he was sooo curious to see what it was. So after letting him play with the box for a little while, we opened the box, and inside there were lots of presents for Joshua! He got so excited when he saw everything in the box! He even tried to eat the presents :) We are going to video tape Joshua on Christmas day while he opens up all of his presents and then post it so everyone can watch it:)

Here is a little clip of Joshua with all his presents.

Merry Christmas!

"We wish you a Merry Christmas,

We wish you a Merry Christmas,

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Glad tidings we bring to you and your kin,

Glad tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year."

We can't wait to see you Grandma and Grandpa!!!

This movie is dedicated to Grandpa and Grandma Ravert!

Merry Christmas!!

it is all over :( ...

It is all over...it is raining :( Nathan and I woke up this morning expecting to see all the snow we were SUPPOSED to get (15-20 cm). Well, instead it didn't even snow at all throughout the night. It even starting raining before we were in bed last night :( and it is pouring right now. Well, I guess that was our snow for a while. It was BEAUTIFUL while it was here. I am glad that we went out last night to get some pictures with Joshua! Otherwise we would have missed it.
We are still praying for a white Christmas though!!!!!

We 3 Raverts LOVE the SNOW!!!!!!!

We have finally been getting some snow!! Nathan and I laughed when we saw the weather network (Internet weather station) heading yesterday. It read "Vancouver Bracing for First Snow!" hahahahahahahaha!!!! It was hilarious! We thought, we are bracing?....we are still bracing?...we are STILL bracing? Where is the snow????? It had snowed (just a tiny bit) on Friday and then some more yesterday (Sunday), but not enough to even cover the grass. And the weather heading was "Vancouver Bracing for First Snow!" to funny!!
Well, tonight we are actually getting some snow!!!!!!!!! Nathan HAD to go out and "test" the Explorer to make sure the anti lock breaks and the 4 wheel drive was working. Test???? :D
Tonight we had to run out to Wal-mart to pick up a few things and everyone was driving sooooo slowly. We passed a car that had just cleared off enough snow on his drivers side window to see his mirror (like his hand size only) and he didn't bother to clear the front window off either...he just used the wipers. So the fun begins: Snow versus B.C drivers!
We all know who wins....the SNOW!
When we got into Wal-mart, we were talking to a couple of Nathan's old managers and one of them couldn't believe that we were out in 'this weather!' We assured them that we LOVE the snow and it is nothing compared to what we are used to driving in in Buffalo and Ontario.
We miss the snow sooooooo much! :( if only it wouldn't rain and get warm like it is supposed to tomorrow :( Please Lord, let the snow stay for Christmas!!!!

Here is our snowy street!! We are supposed to be getting 15-20 cm tonight!!!!
I LOVE it!!!!

Nathan and Joshua in the snow!!
I love his little boots :)

Joshua and I in the snow!!
As you can tell from Joshua's face he is excited!!
He was saying his excited "oooooooooo" that he does with his low voice :)

This picture was taken yesterday, the first day that you could actually see the snow on the ground. Big smiles...he loves the snow!!

Sunday after the morning service, all the boy in the church ran outside to the snow and Nathan ran out too. He brought some snow in for Joshua to see. Joshua looked at it for a few seconds and then thought..."this is probably yummy...after all they said so on 'Charlie Brown's Christmas,' 'you have to catch the snow flakes on your tongue'!" Yes, he ate it:) it was cute!
On our way home from church Joshua had fallen a sleep in the car, but when we took him out he woke up. It was funny, the snow was falling on his face so he kept blinking. Then all of the sudden he said is "ooooooooo" (in his low voice) like he just noticed all the snow!

Last few days of being 5 months old...

Joshua playing in his diaper box. He was trying to get in himself, so I helped him in :D

I think he played in there for 10 minutes! Anything new... and he will LOVE it!

Look at those chunky legs ;D

I love pictures of my precious baby boy when he is sleeping...so adorable!!

"BIG CHUBBA CHUBBA!!"
(as all his cousins call him) :D
Joshua watching his morning cartoons... don't worry Grandma's, he doesn't watch them regularly. I was watching a 'Charlie Brown's Christmas' with him!!!!

He took over the couch...such a boy!

How many babies do you know that like to eat prunes????
Well, now you know 1! He loved them :)
I always have to feed Joshua with 2 spoons because he likes to feed himself. I put food on one spoon and put it into his mouth and then he takes over from there. When all the food is off the spoon, he spits it out, and then I am ready with the second spoon to put into his mouth...and so on! He's growing up way to fast :( :D
Joshua had his first sweet potatoes on Sunday. Yes, you guessed it...he LOVED them. He ate half the jar and would have had more it I gave it to him, no joke! He pigged out!! So he finished the jar today. He is going to eat us out of house and home when he is older! That's OK...the Lord will provide!!!!

We love snow...

Here is a little clip..we love snow:)

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Joshua and I were watching this clip before I posted it and he sang along with Bing the whole time :)

Merry Christmas!

Do you ever wonder what goes on in the mind of a baby?...

"Do you ever wonder what goes on in the mind of a baby?"
We always wonder what Joshua is thinking when he drops one of his toys while he is playing in his exersaucer...he leans over as far as he can and just watches it...like how I am supposed to get that toy back, maybe if I stare at it long enough it will come back to me (which usually happens because we see him and give it back...he's smart!)
We always wonder what Joshua is thinking when everyone comes up to him and makes funny faces. He never smiles right away...he always waits just long enough to make that person feel awkward and then he smiles as if he has just accomplished something (how many people can I get to make a dumb face?) :) hahahaha!
I wonder what goes on in Joshua's mind when he watches me sweeping the floor. His eyes are fixed on the broom, as it goes back and forth, so does his head:)...what do you think he is thinking ;D
What goes on in the mind of baby when he is being so quiet and then all of the sudden he starts babbling and then laughs at himself? If only we could remember what we were thinking as babies.
We know one thing that goes on in Joshua's mind...when he lays his head down on our shoulders and hugs us...
he LOVES us:)
These are all precious memories that we will remember forever!
We Love you baby Joshua

He does have clothes!!

I figured that I should let eveyone know that Joshua DOES HAVE clothes!! It seems like all the pictures that I have posted recently he is just in his diaper. To explain...he likes it that way! :) As Eric says it... "I'm a naty boy!!!!"

Its almost Christmas!!

I was just opening up our BLOG when I noticed that there is only 15 more days until Christmas!!! I can't believe how fast the time has flown...and I still have 90% of my Christmas shopping to do :) I'll get it finished! I have just a few more finishing touches to do on the house, and then I am going to start my Christmas baking!!!!!

On Saturday we handed out some flyer's for our Christmas Cantata. It was chilly! But Joshua slept the whole time! :)

Joshua loves playing with his Daddy. It was hilarious to watch him. He was so determined to get Nathans watch that even when Nathan would hang his arm over the side of the sofa, Joshua 'dove' down to get it!!! He has been getting quite brave lately.

A little (big) trouble maker. I left Joshua in his room to play the other day, and all of the sudden I heard him talking and growling and making a lot of noise. So, I went back to his room and he some how got his coloring book that was supposed to be a souvenir from Storybook Gardens in Ontario. Lets just say that he DESTROYED it!!! :) it was funny though!

A favorite Christmas memory on mine!

This is my favorite part of my favorite Christmas movie! I love it becuase even though it is just a cartoon movie, they tell the 'real' meaning of Christmas! I hope you enjoy it!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

Joshua, The Joys of Christmas!

Christmas has already been a joy for us this year; watching Joshua experience all the "things" that go along with Christmas has given us an abundance of joy! We love him sooooooo much:)

I let Joshua play with our HUGE stocking the other day and he loved it! But in this picture he is actually watching one of my Christmas decorations; a snow globe that plays music and lights up while all the snow is blowing around!

Our cutie!

Joshua just wouldn't be Joshua without that big smile and all those rolls:)

I love this picture.
Joshua is fascinated with the Nativity set that we have set up.
Every time I see him looking at it I tell him about what CHRISTmas is all about! I know, he doesn't really know what I am saying, but one day when he starts to talk, he will have the Christmas story down with NO problems :)
This picture also reminds me of my favorite Christmas movie "A Charlie Brown Christmas" my favorite part in the movie is when Linus tells Charlie Brown 'what Christmas is all about.'

I love this picture!

Did you say that I will get a lot of presents for Christmas Mum?!!

Chubby :)

Joshua really likes his Christmas socks!
He even thinks they taste good too...its a baby thing :)
